E4 The Pastor

It has been the summer of building electrics (and quarantine…) I posted some pics of the LC0002 that I built for my good friend Larry Chicken (aka Pastor Scott Rogers). After seeing that one, another good friend, Stephen Johnson - who is a pastor in Boston - got in touch about making that same model for him. I have posted pics of two other guitars I built for Stephen: #3 and #13. We had been talking about building him and electric ever since #3. Finally got that together and here are few pics of what is now my best selling model.

Stephen had a set of single coils that came out of an early 2000s Strat. We had been talking about using them in an electric ever since I built his #3 for him. I sent him the different body designs I have been working on and he decided to go with the shape used for the LC0002. The body is basswood with a flame maple veneer. It is super light.

For the electronics, it is a typical Strat 3 Single coil setup but with a push-pull on the volume pot with gives a 7 way switching mod. You get the standard 5 positions plus two others: 1) all three pickups in parallel and 2) the bridge and neck in parallel.

The neck is a mahogany and maple three piece with quarter sawn maple fingerboard. Used my inlaid fret makers which I have used on my acoustics. The markers are rosewood. Everything on the guitar gets a light “relicing”- more like a well worn in look.

The headstock is the same design I used on the LC0003 based on an old Teisco design - gives it a little of that 60’s mojo.

I have several other electric prototypes I have been working on. Been trying to come up with names for the designs. Since this one has been favored by two Pastors, decided that would be what I called it. Apostle, Prophet. . . can you see where this is going. . .
