Little Sister Jazz

My youngest daughter has been working the ukulele for many a year now. My second build was actually a tenor uke for her. We made her an electric baritone uke last summer. She decided she wanted to step it up and learn to play guitar. So we designed her a small scale, jazzish, color-shift, sparkle extravaganza. Yeah, we know…

Not a whole lot new to explain on this one. It is a semi-hollow body construction based on one of my designs. It has a single pickup in the neck position and a volume knob - keeping things real simple. It is a short 23” scale which means it is super easy on the fingers and a blast to play. A little cream binding and a pearl pickguard add that little bit of bling we need.

The real stand-out feature on this one is the color shift, sparkle finish. It shifts from a dark aqua blue to a deep purple. Trying to catch this in pics was difficult, but you can see the effect in the ones below.

A fairly simple build with a lot of POW! When I started building, I really didn’t see the rainbow sparkle coming. But it’s here now and I must say, it is fabulous.
